Trip to Cambridge Massachusetts

Our trip to Cambridge Massachusetts on Decemeber 5, 2015 with the Newark Kid Code students, NJIT instructors and mentors, loyal program supporters/volunteers and our two parent leaders from Thirteenth Avenue School and North Star Academy Charter schools will be an experience I will never forget. The kids arrived at the North Star Academy at 6am bleary-eyed and a little tired, but very excited about the trip. We arrived at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology at about 10:30am.

Open House

I want to thank everyone who came out to support the Newark Kids Code students at the 1st annual Newark Kids Code Open house. I also want to thank the Honorable Congressman Donald M. Payne, Jr., Newark Public Schools Superintendent Chris Cerf, Newark Public Schools Advisory Board Chairperson Ariagna Perello, Thirteenth Avenue School Principal Simone Rose, North Star Academy Principal Vernon James Riley, North Star Academy Parent Leader Kiyonna Thomas, and last but certainly not least, Thirteenth Avenue School Parent Leader Celestine Swain for their powerful and inspiring remarks.
